We often do these things out of ignorance; to be trendy, or to show our rebellious streak. But the demonic world doesn't care about your ignorance. In fact, they hope to exploit it.

Whenever God warns us not to do something, it's always for our own good and safety. He's not trying to crash your party: He's trying to save you from death and destruction!

Even if you have something as simple as a butterfly tattoo: that butterfly might mean one thing to you, but it means something totally different to the demon that will attach itself to your life via that symbol. This is very serious, and not to be taken lightly!

Are we living in another generation like Noah's, when toxic thinking is destroying our entire culture?

"The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was continually only evil. The Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him in His heart" (Gen. 6:5-6).

It is sobering to see what happened to the human heart because of a reckless thought life. It did not take long after sin had poured into the human race in the Garden of Eden for men's and women's thinking to go down the tubes. Almost immediately, Adam and Eve let fear dominate their thinking when they hid from the presence of God. God was no longer the focal image of their thoughts. Corrupt thinking only worsened as Cain murdered Abel when thoughts of jealousy and anger shaped his heart into a killer. Sin was crouching at the door of Cain's thought life, and he failed to master it. Each succeeding generation continued to allow sin to crowd God out of their thinking.
The Days of Noah: The Point of No Return

In Genesis 6, people's thought lives had so corrupted their hearts that they reached a point of no return. Every thought, imagination and intention of their human thinking was consistently and totally evil. The Bible does not say some of the imaginations and thoughts of the human race were continually evil, but all of their images, desires, intentions and inclinations in every single thought, were evil.

This was not just some weekend fling. It was their thinking from the time they got up in the morning until the time they went to bed at night. There was not a moment in the day when this evil thought process was not actively controlling their minds and shaping their hearts. They wanted absolutely nothing to do with God in their thinking and ultimately in their hearts.

The psalmist affirms this destructive habit of wrong thinking to the human heart:

"The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek God; God is not in all his thoughts" (Ps. 10:4).

This wicked and rebellious people in the time of Noah did not seek God in their thinking. God was not in one single thought. God is the most awesome thing we can ever think about, but these people were so deceived that they did not believe they needed God.

This is the tragic height of selfishness. This is the ultimate ego trip. This is the most dangerous thinking pattern on the planet. Without God in our thoughts, we have written the death sentence to the magnificent purpose God has prepared for our lives. To never know Him is the greatest catastrophe of the ages. He deserves the honor to be first in our thinking.

Our thoughts are a mighty weapon that can forge our hearts into a steel fortress for our God, or they can be a stealth bomber that penetrates our inner lives and destroys our hearts. Thoughts are a much more powerful weapon than any nuclear bomb. They are the critical component to our spiritual growth. We must have a disciplined thought life that is focused like a laser on God and His Word, or our hearts will become a mush of spiritual apathy and worldly lusts.

The devil is a master general at attacking the thought life of a Christian. His war strategy involves tactics of deception, pressure, and enticement to turn our thinking away from God and toward his kingdom. The devil knows that every action that flows out of the human heart originates from our thoughts. He knows that our moral character is an exact image of our thinking. Our thoughts determine whether our character drifts toward good or evil.

The devil knows that in order for a person to do evil, he must first think evil.

Within 10 generations after the fall in the garden, the devil was so successful that only one person on the entire Earth had godly thoughts. Sin had spread like wildfire and contaminated every single thought of what was probably between 235 million and 7 billion people. To imagine that only one person out of this massive population had his thought life together is mind-boggling. Nothing in their thoughts reflected the image of God and not one thought brought glory to God. They were wise, rich, sophisticated and cultured for their time, but the defining characteristic of their age was wickedness because of their thinking.

A civilization that is centered on an ungodly thought life is built on sinking sand. This civilization in the days of Noah received the fruit of their thoughts, which was wickedness and corruption that multiplied on the face of the Earth.

Only Noah was thinking rightly and found favor with God. No one else held the image of God and His words as the standard for their thoughts. No one else was guarding their thoughts. No one else cared that their thought life had nothing good in it, but was a breeding ground for evil. Only Noah had righteous thoughts that built his faith and fueled his obedience to God. Noah's thought life was pure and free from evil because he walked with God.

Genesis 6:6 reveals how the toxic thinking of the human race affected God's heart. These verses contain the first usage of the word heart in the Bible, and they describe a heart that is in deep sorrow.

"The Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him in His heart" (Gen. 6:6).

The toxic thought life of His precious creation broke God's heart. God's heart was in horrible agony and pain as He groaned in sorrow over the condition of the heart of every member of the human race. He cried in agony that His people refused to honor Him with even one thought.

Are our thought lives any better today? Does our thinking bring great agony to the heart of God? How God must grieve today over the thought lives of so many Christians and the toxic thinking of this generation.

God is sounding out a clarion call to all who would listen that what we think is critically important to the heart of God. He knows He cannot have your heart if He does not first have your thoughts.

I don't want to break the heart of God because of my toxic thinking. I want to bring glory to God with my thinking. I want to honor Him with every thought. I do not want any virus to infect my thinking and take out the operating system of my heart. A reckless thought life led to the annihilation of an entire civilization. Is it happening again?

hardly. Whatever pills we try on psychopaths, would already have passed the safety phase of testing with animal models, so it's only a question of efficacy.

Bottom line is, they've already thrown their lives away, and we would be well justified in executing them, or preferably confining them to prison for life.

The potential of finding a medical treatment would allow for determinate sentencing, which is more humane than life sentences.

Better yet, a treatment that works could be applied as soon as the psychopathy/sociopathy is detected, which for most of them is when they're still juveniles. Successful treatment will prevent further crimes, so what you end up with are law-abiding citizens on pills, rather than dangerous predators who have to be kept in cages.

[That's one way to describe it. "Only a question of efficacy" is one way to describe using prisoners as guinea pigs for medical tests. It's an "efficacy" with a pretty ugly history.]

So how are you going to develop a treatment if you can't test it on people who have the diagnosis?

Just when you thought that life could not get more idiotic a Florida paleontologist called Jonathan Bloch has discovered seven fossilised teeth from a monkey 21 million years ago (give or take a day).

According to Dr Bloch “it’s a mind bending discovery” because until now it had long been accepted that such monkeys (or their teeth, to be exact) did not exist so long ago.

So how did they get to Panama? Did the monkeys swim across from South America to North America? After all, it was a 160 kilometres journey across the sea. Apparently this is the crux of the entire study.

Fascinating stuff is it not?

It’s not the question on my mind, however, that’s for sure.

My question is “who gives a damn?” Why is precious research time and money being wasted on a monkey who may or may not have existed and who may or may not have left some teeth behind when he fossilised himself?

John Martin Roos, a 61-year-old from Oregon, has been charged with communication of a threat in interstate commerce, and additional charges are likely forthcoming. Roos first came onto the federal government’s radar after a “concerned citizen” brought Roos’ Facebook and Twitter postings to the FBI’s attention in February, according to an affidavit from Special Agent Jeffrey Gray. (Excerpts, below, from Roos’ postings contain explicit language.)

In one Jan. 31 Facebook post cited by the FBI, Roos referred to agents as “pussies” and wrote he would “snipe them with hunting rifles everywhere.” (Despite his threats to kill members of law enforcement, he also complained on Facebook earlier this month about the “liberal media ... slamming police.”) In a post in November that was also cited by the FBI, Roos spoke out against accepting refugees and threatened to kill Obama.

“Obama you goat fffing fudgepacker, the refugees are men of fighting age. Black lives matter! Sure we need someone to pick cotton and wash cars. Paris, burn diseased muslim neighborhoods to the ground and start over with human beings. Obama you are on a hit list,” he wrote in a post that appears to have been removed.

Beyond what was mentioned in the affidavit, Roos regularly posted on both Facebook and Twitter about his support for Trump and his hatred for Obama, who he called a “muslim faggot” and other derogatory terms. He indicated he wanted to kill Obama’s family and made other racist and sexist statements about Michelle Obama. He also made negative references to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, singer Beyonce, Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly and reporter Michelle Fields, and said he believed that the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was killed by Obama. He praised Ann Coulter and Stacey Dash, and posted several links to posts on Breitbart.com.

He regularly posted about his support for Trump, the leading Republican presidential candidate. In one post mentioned in court filings, Roos stated that he believed the establishment “is trying to steal the election” from Trump. “All hail Donald Trump, the savior of America,” he wrote on Christmas Eve. “I’ll bet he was born on Dec 25 just like Jesus.”

When two FBI special agents visited him in March, Roos allegedly acknowledged making the postings on social media, calling the threats a way he “blows off steam.” He said he didn’t intend to harm anyone, but also that he would “punch Obama in the nose” if he had the chance.

After a federal judge signed off on a search warrant, FBI agents searched Roos’ home, where he lives with a roommate. According to the affidavit they found “an AK-47 like firearm,” a rifle and shotgun, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and a .45 caliber Glock hidden under a couch cushion. Four pipe bombs were found in a white bucket next to Roos’ computer workstation. Another weapon was found underneath the floor mat of his truck.

Pants On Women - Is That All There Is To It?

Same-sex marriage, mothers no longer working in the home, families going their separate ways with no time together, the feminization of men, the masculinization of women. These are the things I see as I look out over the landscape of our country. I find myself asking, "Where has manhood gone?" and "Where has femininity gone?"

As I read the messages preached and the books written by my mentor, Dr. Jack Hyles, I sense in him a concern for the direction in which our country was moving with regards to manhood and womanhood. He even preached a sermon, which later was published in booklet form, on the subject of the unisex movement.

Today we seldom even think about it yet so many of the things about which he warned us have now come true and for the most part we have accepted them. We have lost the distinction between the sexes. We've lost the pride of masculinity and femininity. In fact, society derides both.

Perhaps nothing has brought more criticism to Dr. Hyles than did his strict position on women wearing pants for those in church leadership. He never wavered on that position, however he never treated women who wore pants with disrespect or unkindness. He NEVER made the issue of a woman wearing pants as proof of whether or not she was a Christian, or whether or not she loved the Lord. The issue really was not as much about the individual as it was with the whole.

He saw us moving away from the distinctiveness of the sexes towards a homogenous sameness that he felt was wrong. He saw the issue in ways that others did not. It was more of a philosophy that he preached. Deuteronomy 22:5 meant more to him than just a matter of women wearing pants. It stood for something much bigger. It stood for the fact that men should dress like men and women like women. Even in Bible days the distinctions were very clear and he wanted for them to remain clear in our day.

Did we somehow become lost and confused as to what the issue was really about? Does it really not matter if men dress differently than women and women than men? Is it really important that there be a distinctiveness between masculinity and femininity? The issue wasn't as much about pants as it was principle. He was looking at a much bigger picture than most. Perhaps we saw the issue to vaguely. Perhaps we missed the point entirely.

Many men who once agreed on the issue of pants have now changed their position. Perhaps the position was too small or too narrow in the first place. Perhaps pants in and of themselves was not the issue. Perhaps the real issue was the matter of the distinctiveness between the attire of men and women. Pants gave us a focal point for the real issue, which was that men ought to dress like men and women like women.

Has that changed? Does it matter? Should we care if boys dress like girls? Should it matter to us if girls dress like boys? Is it really relevant? There has always been a focal issue that rallied us behind a principle. Long hair on men rallied us against rebellion, which was the bigger issue. Pants was the focal point for the principle of women not dressing like men. Yet when it comes to the issue of women wearing pants we seem to have missed the point. What is the point? The point is the Bible principle.

What is the Bible principle? The principle is that men should dress like men and women should dress like women. Has that changed or is the Bible still true? Should men wear clothing that pertains to a woman? Should women wear clothing that pertains to a man?

If you are an honest person you will have to admit that females in public have taken the half off sale seriously. Hip hugging skinny jeans revealing mid riffs. I travel every week of the world around this great nation of ours. It is embarrassing for a man who is doing the best he can to keep his heart right with all of the female flesh on display.

Then I go into some of our churches and find myself wondering who is standing for the Bible principle of distinction in God's house. The decline of American morality is reflected in our distinction. The decline of our churches is also reflected in our dress distinction. 50 years ago it was not so in public and for sure it was not so in our churches.

The Mrs. Cleaver look was in almost every home in 1950's. Not so in either the home or the house of God, in a lot of cases, in this new Millennium. If God wanted a distinction in the Old Testament how much more does He desire it in the New Testament.

Murder was brought to a higher level and was identified in the word "hate." (Matthew 5:21-22) Adultery was brought to a higher level by Jesus Himself in the New Testament to the word "lust." (Matthew 5:28) This "second mile" level we find in the New Testament I am afraid is certainly not prevalent in this new Millennium.

Distinction was brought to a higher level in the New Testament. (I Timothy 2:9) Deuteronomy 22:5 has been elevated to "modest" clothing. No skinny jeans here! The Bible principle is for today.

So, if the principle is still true why are we criticizing those who took a stand regarding women wearing pants? I for one must allow others to disagree on the issue, but I'm concerned when they ignore the importance of the Bible principle upon which we built that position. If we lose the principle then we lose the purity of the Scripture.

If we begin to criticize those who took a stand then we should be explaining how we then are carrying out that principle. What should women wear that which a man shouldn't? What should men wear that women shouldn't? Does it matter? It has to because it is covered in his word.

Should we fight over the issue of pants? No, however many of the ones who are fighting the most are the ones who are fighting against those who took or still take that stand. I do not fight the women who wear pants or the preachers who allow it nearly as much as they fight me.

They don't know my heart because they haven't taken the time to understand why I take my position. My position on this issue is based on principle not preference. I am tolerant of those who disagree with my application but should we be tolerant to those who ignore the principle entirely?

The principle is not up for debate, so why would you criticize my commitment to a principle even though you may not like my application of that principle? The principle is that men are to dress like men and women like women and there must be some distinction.

What is the distinction? If you tell me my position is wrong then simply explain to me what the distinction is that you are making between the attire of men and the attire of women. I'll be satisfied with that.

If you're going to criticize me because I have put some kind of distinction into the principle then tell me what your distinction is based upon that same principle. Whether Deuteronomy 22:5 means pants on women or not it must mean something? What does it mean? Explain it.

Don't tell me that men wore robes in the Bible as your excuse? Trust me, the attire of men and the attire of women in those days was very distinctive. There was no question as to what was a man's clothing and what was a woman's clothing. My challenge to you is not proof of whether pants on women is right or wrong but whether or not you know what it means to you.

Let's face it the breaking down between the sexes has taken place. We no longer have the distinctions we once had between men and women including the way they dress. Dr. Hyles and others warned us of this danger more than they warned us of women wearing pants. He warned us of the danger of losing the distinction between the sexes. Pants was a symptom of the issue, but many have turned this against those who warned of the true danger.

We've been called legalists because of a standard based upon a Scriptural principle found in Deuteronomy 22:5. We were not trying to set the standard for everyone. There was a time when public schools made the same distinction and female students were prohibited from wearing pants. There was a time when only women that society considered loose wore pants.

I'm not suggesting that's true today, but what I am suggesting there is a Bible principle that we are not discussing honestly. Those who take a position are being ridiculed by those who have no position on a very clear principle.

I remember in 1959 when the PTA of our public school held a meeting discussing whether or not they should promote a "Slack Friday" for the girl students. I have often wondered why they did not allow "Skirt Friday" for the boy students? Now in the public work places it is "Slack Week."

Tell me pastor what should women wear, or does it matter? What should men wear? Does it matter? This is not legalism. This is applying principles to our lives. There's a legitimate reason that we took the positions we took. I'm saddened by the condition of our country, but I am not surprised. Same sex marriage is a result of the casual way we have dealt with issues in our country and even in many churches.

This smacks of a "oneness" move in fundamentalism that wants to absorb all issues into a "distinctness lessoning" position. I read the BLOGS and it worries me that if you take a contrary stand or an aggressive stand on issues you are causing the cause to not dwell in unity. We are not Catholics! We are not a part of a "universal body." When the cause becomes greater than the truth we are on a downward spiral spiritually.

We are a nation that has completely lost its mind and its morality. Yet we are criticizing men who say women shouldn't wear pants, because women are commanded to dress differently than men? How dare you be so concerned about a man who preaches against women wearing pants that you neglect to acknowledge that the distinction between the sexes has been broken. Yet, it is a distinction God gave us.

So, now I put the responsibility back on your shoulders. Tell us what to do? If there's no problem then there's nothing to worry about, but I think we all know there is a problem. Dr. Hyles was right. The unisex movement is a satanic pursuit to blur the lines between the roles and identity of men and women. How do we fix it? What's the standard going to be? Is there going to be no standard? I think it's time to give it a second thought.

If the pastor's wife has no distinction in her dress, then no wonder the pastor has lock-jaw and is like the Ant-Artica and frozen at the mouth. This makes it difficult to lead a local church let alone a movement.

Christians who believe in traditional marriage were shocked at the in your face sodomy display at the NFL draft. The truth is they may have to look in the mirror and figure out what happened to the distinction of the sexes as having laid the foundation for this and other woes. This is NOT hate speech, this is Scriptural speech. We are losing ground because we have lost the distinctiveness God gave us!

Witchcraft is real. And one of the most effective ways to establish covenants within witchcraft is via sex.

Far too many Christians remain oblivious to the methods Satan is using to stifle their gifts, callings and the purpose that is on their lives. He knows that if he can get a believer into sexual sin, he can attach a demon to them: sometimes even for life.

Make it your mission to know why fornication is wrong in the eyes of God. Know why there is such a big push in society for homosexuality to now be out in the open. Be aware why 7 out of every 10 movies released from Hollywood now feature some element of witchcraft, demonic activity and the occult.

In fact, know why Hollywood is even called Holly-wood in the first place! FYI: the holly tree was the sacred tree from which witches and warlocks (male witches) made their magic wands.

So "holly" "wood" is none other than the magic wand of witches used to cast spells over the unsuspecting. That has always been the purpose for making movies. Entertainment is just a modern form of spell-casting and bewitching.

For instance: I was watching one of those "Hobbit" movies not too long ago, and it blew me away when several of the characters started speaking in demonic tongues right there in the middle of the movie!

Who knows what spells or incantations were being cast during that scene? I couldn't even enjoy watching the movie after that demonic sneak attack.

And if you're a Christian who thinks you are immune to the occult simply because grace covers you, and therefore that makes it okay for you to watch or listen to it: you're only fooling yourself. Satan will make a slave of you if you keep engaging in his stuff!

Spiritual wickedness is coming HARD these days. Meanwhile, Christians are busy having debates over how 'nice' a person's tone should be when warning others to turn away from sin and darkness.

Avoid fornication. Quit masturbating. Turn off the TV set and spend that time studying your Bible.

Turn down that #6 value meal every once in a while, and spend the evening fasting and in prayer. Find a good church and stick with it. Up your godly spiritual power!

And whatever you do: stop entertaining yourself with demonic stuff! This is for you horror movie hip hop tattoo-loving "saints." Ask yourself: why are you so attracted and drawn to dark and demonic spiritual things?

Some of you need deliverance, and you don't even realize it. But that's okay. Just stick around a little longer, and those demons will run screaming out of your life before you know what hit you.

They say that metanoeo should have been transliterated, i.e., carried over, so as to avoid the confusion caused by the word “repent.” Albeit, if you rightly divide the word of truth, you'll discern the correct meaning). Having said that, the new revised versions do horrible injustice to the Scriptures by changing “repent” to errantly mean, to “change your hearts and lives.” That is works for salvation! On April 21, vegan advocate Leilani Münter tweeted: “Dear Cafe Gratitude, Gracias Madre, Sage – we hear BeLoveFarm is killing animals. We’re upset, to put it mildly. Signed, your vegan fan base.”

Reaction was fast and furious with vegans raging at the couple while calling for boycotts of the couple’s restaurant as well as two others that they are affiliated with. According to the couple, despite assuring fans on the restaurant that it still “100 per cent organic, plant-based cuisine,” they have received death threats.

Fans have also taken to Yelp to trash the restaurant’s reputation, with one reviewer comparing the owners to child molesters.

“It’s like a child molester operating daycare facilities, and why would anyone in good conscience ever want to come back to such a place of hypocrisy!?” Marie from Marina Del Rey wrote.” This is no different from you posting your dog’s photo announcing that you’re going to skin him and eat him. Despite admitting that she had eaten at the restaurant for year, Vered B. now says everything about the restaurant she enjoyed over the years now “sucks.”

What protects our right to free speech? A loving government that just LOOOOVES having citizens speak out against it?

What protects our right to trial by jury? Just because it’s a neat idea on a piece of paper?

NO. The threat of citizen violence against the government via the second amendment is the only thing that prevents that government from trampling our rights.

Look at how much regulation the government does of our daily lives. We don’t do anything about besides vote, and when that doesn’t work, what are our options? Accept the status quo, or grab the pitchfork and musket. Thus far we’ve accepted the status quo.

But the only reason the BoR still exists is because “the people” have the collective threat of violence on our side to prevent the government from burning the constitution and doing whatever they want to us.

As for invading Canada, yes. If we as a people decide thats what we want to do, then we should. They have in their own rights to fight back, and if they win, guess what? We’ll likely lose land and have to pay some sort of war reparation. If we win, we get their land. That is literally how war works.

As for Tubman, why does Jackson NEED to be replaced at all?

Putting a black woman in his place is blatant pandering.

If the treasury said “We’re looking into making a $25 note, and we’ll be going with Harriet Tubman” then that’s great, go for it.

But to erase one of the nation’s founders, and in his place put a racially and sexually pandering figure, is progressive politics at it’s finest.

MANGALURU: A flex banner allegedly put up by a saffron outfit warning non-Hindus against setting up stalls during annual fair at a temple in Surathkal was removed after it stoked controversy.

The notice purportedly put-up by Hindu Jagarana Vedike's local unit at Sri Maha Ganapathy temple, Ganeshpura, Katipalla read: "It will hold its annual fair from April 19 to April 23. During the fair, non-Hindus are prohibited from opening their shops."

According to Ningaiah, temple executive officer, said the HJV activists had not consulted temple authorities before putting up the notice and he was not aware of such a warning. He said participation of non-Hindus in the annual fair is a kind of tradition here and every year, they erect stalls and participate in the fair. "We never opposed it," he said.

After like-minded people alerted temple authorities, a complaint was filed at Surathkal Police Station claiming that such posters trigger communal violence. Ningaiah said based on complaint, police have removed the flex from the temple premises.

Condemning HJV move, a devotee said the vedike has no business to interfere in the temple affairs. "Temple administration has the right to allow or disallow non-Hindus. Why should Vedike interfere," he questioned.

Four years ago a similar controversy was stoked during a saffron outfit organizations convention held in the city. Organisations had organized various games during the event for public but it restrained people participating from 'non-Hindu' communities.

M Chandra Sekhar, City Police Commissioner, said at present temple authorities have filed a complaint but no section have been registered. "We are recourse to legal opinion on how the persons can be booked for stirring enmity and based on experts advise police will go ahead," he pointed out.

The age of feminism is over, thankfully. The comments here that support feminism are from the rats that refuse to leave the sinking ship, thinking there’s sustenance still to be found there somewhere. Sorry to disappoint, but there is nothing nutritious left.
Men the world over are waking up to the damage wrought by rampant feminism and they’re shocked to realise it all happened while they were asleep. Well, they’re asleep no more. Bleat all you like about feminism being about this or that, but the truth of it’s evil is written all over the once noble institutions of the world and the wishful bleatings of solipsistic girl-children can’t erase it. It is done. The cailphate is establishing its power base once more and Sharia law is spreading.
Feminists have destroyed the family and have eschewed child-bearing in favour of credentialism and the illusion of success, killing their unborn children and robbing men of their will to be fathers and husbands. The laugh is on you, Western feminists, as Western birth rates have at last fallen below their replenishment rate and the Muslims are laughing all the way to the maternity wards.
The best you can hope for, Western women, is to abandon feminism entirely. Abandon that idiotic notion of ‘equality’, as it will never happen. All it has earned you is the disrespect of men and an increasing number of women the world over. Feminism doesn’t make you strong. It doesn’t make you powerful. It doesn’t make you free. And it sure as hell doesn’t make you equal. It just makes you despicable.

Chimpanzees Throwing Rocks: Religious Ritual or Testimony to God’s Design?

Do chimpanzees throwing rocks at trees prove they engage in religious ritual? Well, various media reports on one such study would certainly have us believe they do! The media has been buzzing with this story, and since we keep seeing news reports about it weeks later, I thought I would comment on the story.

Are Humans Animals?
Researchers studying chimpanzees in West Africa discovered a previously unknown behavior: chimpanzees, particularly the males, throw rocks at trees and into holes in trees. This throwing is accompanied by, among other things, hooting. These researchers suggest that perhaps this is evidence of ritualized behavior in chimpanzees. They also believe chimp behavior can shed light on human ancestry and how we supposedly developed religious rituals.

In a blog post, one of the researchers involved in the study says, “It could be more symbolic than [a dominance display]—and more reminiscent of our own past. Marking pathways and territories with signposts such as piles of rocks is an important step in human history. Figuring out where chimps' territories are in relation to rock throwing sites could give us insights into whether this is the case here. Even more intriguing than this, maybe we found the first evidence of chimpanzees creating a kind of shrine that could indicate sacred trees.”

Now from this study and the accompanying blog post, the media went wild with the idea that this somehow proves that chimpanzees have some kind of proto-religious belief that gave rise to religious rituals in early humans. Of course, this belief is nonsense. We aren’t related to chimpanzees, so their behavior teaches us nothing about what our supposed ancestors did. Humans were created in the image of God from the very beginning with both intelligence and knowledge of God. This knowledge did not need to evolve over time from some kind of ape-like ancestors.

The observational evidence shows that some chimpanzees hoot and throw rocks at holes in trees. The idea that it’s an example of proto-religious behavior or ritual is simply an interpretation (and a false one at that) of the evidence—and certainly not the likeliest interpretation. Those involved in the study note that there are other interpretations of the evidence, such as that this behavior is a display of dominance (chimps have long been known to drum on hollow tree roots to assert dominance) or that it serves as a communication function.

Now I don’t think that these chimps are throwing rocks at trees in some kind of religious ritual, but whatever this behavior is accomplishing, we can be sure that it has nothing to do with our supposed evolutionary ancestry! Because God created chimps—like many other creatures such as dolphins, dogs, and crows—to be intelligent, this somewhat creative display of dominance or communication is not surprising. It’s another example of animals using what’s in their environment to accomplish a task.

Scripture does poetically talk about animals knowing their Creator and creation praising God but never in the context of ritual or shrines; therefore it seems highly unlikely that these chimps are recognizing God in their behavior. Humans, alone made in God’s image, are the only beings in God’s creation capable of communicating with Him and having a relationship with Him. However, the psalmist writes,

Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all you stars of light!
Praise Him, you heavens of heavens,
And you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For He commanded and they were created. . . .

Praise the Lord from the earth,
You great sea creatures and all the depths;
Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
Mountains and all hills;
Fruitful trees and all cedars;
Beasts and all cattle;
Creeping things and flying fowl. . . .

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For His name alone is exalted;
His glory is above the earth and heaven. (Psalm 148:3–5, 7–10, 13)

All of creation—from the moon and stars to the insects and fruit trees—praises and proclaims the glory of God. Instead of seeing some kind of evolutionary significance to chimpanzees throwing rocks, these researchers should join with all of creation giving praise to the Lord Jesus Christ who made the earth and everything in it for His glory.
