[Indonesia city to ban women 'straddling motorbikes']

A city in the Indonesian province of Aceh which follows Sharia has ordered female passengers not to straddle motorbikes behind male drivers.

Suaidi Yahya, mayor of Lhokseumawe, says it aims to save people's "morals and behaviours".

Leaflets have been sent out to government offices and residents to inform them about the regulation.

Aceh is the only Indonesian province that follows Sharia.

Under the new regulation, the mayor says that women passengers are only allowed to sit "side-saddle" because straddling the bike seat violates Islamic values.

"When you see a woman straddle, she looks like a man. But if she sits side-saddle, she looks like a woman," Suaidi said.

He added that passengers who sat side-saddle rarely fell off.

I had an interesting conversation with a friend yesterday. He is a scientist and claims to be a Christian. I have always respected his opinions, but this one seems a little weird. We were have a creation vs. evolution debate. I, of course, claimed evolution is a hoax, but he said that both evolution AND creation can be true. He said that white people were created, and black people evolved. He used some pretty convincing arguments, like facial bone structures, saying that white people look more like Jesus, and black people look more similar to a primate. He also noted group behaviors. On the surface it sounds really racist and I'm strongly against evolution and science, but does my friend have a point?

Somewhere back in time, people decided that it was a great thing to lie to kids about Santa Claus. For some reason, it’s been deemed okay to make up all kinds of stories about this “magic man”. And if anyone dares to publicly state that he is not real, they are scourged for it.

Personally, it has always bothered me. I didn’t like it that my parents lied to me, and I never liked lying to my daughter about it. I certainly didn’t use Santa as a tool to get her to behave or clean up her room or anything like that – which many do. I think Santa is a ploy to keep people from associating Jesus with Christmas and this year, I’m particularly annoyed with the Santa thing after watching the MSM fawn all over him.
