I have for some period of time been concerned about the silent and pernicious effects of secular humanism. These effects go beyond removing from the record any trace of Christianity. Most threatening is the fact that secular humanism will take from us God-given rights and substitute the governmental state as our creator and source of authority. It seems to me that renaming the YMCA is like building a mosque next to the 9-11 site. The only difference is subtlety.
Christians need to recognize that they are systematically being redirected to secular humanism and a totalitarian state.

The blood thing really should bother us for other reasons. We have an epidemic of cutting as a well-known adolescent pathology. I believe there are spiritual issues involved. These kinds of strange maladies look a lot like demonic activity.

If these words are good enough for the chambers of Congress, good enough for all our coins and all our currency, and good enough to serve as our national motto, they are good enough to appear on the walls of every classroom in America.

Currently, 73 bipartisan members of Congress have signed on as co-sponsors of Rep. Forbes' resolution. If your representative is one of those 73, thank him today.

It's important for Americans to be on guard against those who don't like our Declaration of Independence or are in denial about what it says.

The message of the Declaration of Independence is under attack from the ACLU and atheists because it refuted the lie about a constitutional mandate for "separation of church and state." Atheists have filed numerous lawsuits in the courts of activist judges to try to eliminate our right to acknowledge God in public places, in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and in Ten Commandments monuments.

The atheists are trying to change American history, expunge all reference to religion from textbooks and make us a completely secular nation. History proves America was founded by religious men who believed that a divine Creator is basic to good government.

We get the impression that President Obama is embarrassed not only about references to God, but also by the concept of independence, which asserts our national sovereignty. He's more comfortable bowing to foreign dictators, declaring himself a "citizen of the world" and pledging to "rejoin the world community," as he did when speaking to cheering German socialists.

I'm proud that Texas (along with only Alaska) opted out of the federal curriculum-standard mandates, as the 10th Amendment to the Constitution prescribes for us. Texas refused to participate in order to keep control of what is taught at our public schools. We certainly don't need the federal government's help raising or educating our kids. That is what has allowed us to be independent and autonomous over our curriculum. For example, while federal courts have banned educational options like intelligent design in biology, many who are involved in the curricula decision-making process in the Lone Star State believe there is a place for it somewhere in academia, if even in classes on government. If God were good enough for our founders and Creator-language important enough to be in pivotal documents like the Declaration of Independence, then why can't our kids be educated about that Creator from at least their original documents?
