Members of a local student-oriented Catholic parish received an e-mail last week urging them to boycott the New York Pizza Depot on East William Street because of a gay pride rainbow sicker on its front door.

The sticker has upset some people, including Andrew Shirvell, an NYPD customer and member of St. Mary’s Student Parish, located down the street from NYPD.

Shirvell, a University alumnus and former president of Students for Life, said the sticker is offensive because it endorses homosexuality instead of simply tolerating it.

“I find the rainbow flag offensive because it is a symbol of the homosexual movement that, in my opinion, indicates a validation of the homosexual lifestyle, as opposed to a sign that indicates ‘openness’ to customers who are of the homosexual orientation,” he said.

Actually, no, no faith predates Christianity, contrary to the many lies of our liberal media, classrooms (of all "educational" levels... please note the quotation marks), pop culture, consensus thought, etc., and as usual, yahoo! news is a joke. This type of nonsense is no different than the nonsense that I heard in college, i.e. from my Sociology professor, someone I had a lot of exchanges with.

Truth is absolute, not relative, not subjective, not dependent upon an aforementioned consensus/status quo or time frame. Truth never changes and is absolutely parallel in all cases.

Christianity is the true faith, and please note the definite article. Don't take my word at face value, though; seek the truth. God has given us the faculties of reason and wisdom. Indeed, use them. You will know-- not assume-- the truth if you do indeed seek it, and since God created the universe, don't tell me that any false faith that originated after the fact somehow predates Christianity. You can't predate the true faith.

When I was four, I stood in church, looked around, thought I was in the right place, but wondered how I could know. I sought the truth and found it. I unfortunately left the faith at one point but thankfully returned.

It's sad that individuals have to push themselves up by bringing others down.Your take on Jews, the old testament and their relationship to God is a little troubling. Are you " Jealous" that Jews were the chosen people of God and not the " Gentiles" that you belong to.Are you upset that the Preists and Clergy of your sick faith or lack of , in your case have abused more children than any other faith.Does it bother you that more gays belong to your group than to mine! Atheism in your case is a disease.I hope they find you a cure soon.

This is not how I intended to begin this letter, but the news that the Nobel committee has awarded Obama the peace prize has just absolutely sickened everyone in The Afterlife! Everyone in my Kingdoms declares that the Nobel committee is insane. They're saying everything backwards. This man isn't striving for peace, he's creating chaos! Fortunately We were able to counter it and let's hope We can keep that up. Well, it should've been Demetrius' prize, would've gone to support the goddesses. Maybe next year if We get the Palestinian project going and show these people what a real peace maker can do. Peace prize! Good grief! We are completely at a loss why people are making a fuss that more lesbians are put out of the army under don't ask don't tell than homosexuals. Why are they telling? Why don't they keep it quiet? If they break the rule they should be put out of the service. Doesn't matter if they're male or female. If homosexuals want to serve they keep it to themselves, do it in private. Don't make a fuss about it. Then they can serve as long as they want to. However, when they start teaching sickness, when they start saying it's acceptable and they want to serve as an open lesbian they have to go, it's that simple. If more lesbians enlist than homosexuals that's their problem!

It's important for people, especially people who call themselves christians to realize that if people aren't staying away from you, if they aren't giving you a hard time because of your belief and understanding of the bible (Word of God), then you really are not a Christian. If the Master was hated; the servants and children will be too. Jesus was killed. The Master was hated to death.

So when I see Christians living a krispy kreme life; I know one thing; they are not talking to anyone about their beliefs and understanding or they are not really following Christ. Thanks to you brother for a powerful article.

"I'm a Christian citizen exercising my First Amendment rights," Shirvell told CNN's Anderson Cooper. "I have no problem with the fact that Chris is a homosexual. I have a problem with the fact that he's advancing a radical homosexual agenda."

It seems, does it not, that the "veil" is thinning? Everywhere we turn, folks seem to have more accounts of the supernatural than ever before, at least in our current memory, which means a generation.

There have been runs -- rashes -- of various manifestations. In the 1980s, there was an eruption of alleged apparitions of the Blessed Mother, apparitions that continue around this world to this day. In the 1990s, angels were all the rage -- manifesting very boldly, and filling bestsellers. There has been the demonic: spiritual warfare perhaps has never been so obvious. (Its manifestations could fill an encyclopedia and continue to gain momentum). There are so many now who report signs from the deceased, which is among the topics covered in a book we have just released, The Spirits Around Us.

A thin veil indeed! The theology of modernism misses it. There are the "spirits around us": never before has the mainstream media reported on so many alleged "paranormal" events. The brilliant Father John Hampsch of California has issued a little booklet called Poltergeists and Seven Types of Ghosts, which also covers such topics.

Just last July -- in a single day -- were the eerie reports of ghost lights that led researchers to discover a mass historic grave in Malvern, Pennsylvania; the study focusing on an "epidemic" of possession (by spirits) in Mozambique; and the news story -- on normally skeptical CNN -- of young "ghost-hunters" who were listening for the sounds of a legendary "ghost" train (there had been a crash in 1891). One of these ghost hunters was killed and another severely injured when a real train came by and ran them over (at three a.m. on a Friday last month).

About three a.m.: why does this continue to pop up in accounts of both spiritual and occult occurrences? Is it the devil's hour (the dark reverse of the Hour of Mercy) or simply a time of night when (again) the veil thins?

Obviously many people refuse to read the Bible and thus miss out on the benefit of its foreknowledge. Had scientists carefully studied the walking on water with an open mind, then it may not have taken 1900 years before they recognized the existence of wave-particle duality. Ditto for many other phenomena.

Had a real God moment today when I stopped in the pet store to look at all the cute and furry critters. At the mice cage there was this one really pretty little black and white mouse. She was sitting on her hind legs, eyes closed and her two tiny front paws folded in prayer. Cutest thing ever!!!! I wonder what she was praying, "oh, please Jesus let me find a good home where there are no kittehs."

It is a blasphemous program that only godless people with no spiritual connection to a God of Righteousness could find any humor in it. The destruction of the morality of society is the destruction of society and all those who love this program love death and destruction.

Two non-denominational Christian preachers calling for the repentance of gays attracted attention from hundreds of students on Tuesday, many of whom protested their presence.

Jim Deferio and his daughter Michelle, both from Syracuse, arrived on [SUNY Geneseo] campus shortly before noon and remained on the college green for over five hours: finally leaving at 5:30 p.m. Jim Deferio held a sign proclaiming that gays have been healed through faith and touted Web sites including exhomosexuals.com and hopeforhomosexuals.com.

Large numbers of students crowded around the demonstrators, in some cases insulting and denouncing their message. Many were offended by Jim Deferio's often inflammatory comments, such as his denial that there is a biological basis for homosexuality.

"All sex out of marriage is a sin," Deferio said. "Jesus defined marriage as between a man and a woman." He claimed that homosexuals are 40 times more likely than heterosexuals to molest children, and declared John Lennon an "evil person."

According to Michelle Deferio, she and her father are not affiliated with and do not receive any support from outside organizations, and have no political goal. They have held similar demonstrations at other SUNY campuses, including a Sept. 11 appearance at Brockport. She said that different cultures struggle with different issues related to the teachings of God, and that she and her father focus on sexual immorality when at college campuses because it is most relevant for that audience. "I want people to have a real relationship with God," she said.

Quote# 76377

When Christians practice yoga, they must either deny the reality of what yoga represents or fail to see the contradictions between their Christian commitments and their embrace of yoga. The contradictions are not few, nor are they peripheral. The bare fact is that yoga is a spiritual discipline by which the adherent is trained to use the body as a vehicle for achieving consciousness of the divine. Christians are called to look to Christ for all that we need and to obey Christ through obeying his Word. We are not called to escape the consciousness of this world by achieving an elevated state of consciousness, but to follow Christ in the way of faithfulness.

There is nothing wrong with physical exercise, and yoga positions in themselves are not the main issue. But these positions are teaching postures with a spiritual purpose. Consider this — if you have to meditate intensely in order to achieve or to maintain a physical posture, it is no longer merely a physical posture.

The embrace of yoga is a symptom of our postmodern spiritual confusion, and, to our shame, this confusion reaches into the church. Stefanie Syman is telling us something important when she writes that yoga “has augured a truly post-Christian, spiritually polyglot country.” Christians who practice yoga are embracing, or at minimum flirting with, a spiritual practice that threatens to transform their own spiritual lives into a “post-Christian, spiritually polyglot” reality. Should any Christian willingly risk that?

[Gerald Polley posting a message allegedly given to him by God]

We are hoping for a victory in Maine today, to deal homosexual marriage a death blow, a mortal wound. It will be close! However if We fail I will blame one man, Pope Benedict Of Rome, because I personally instructed him to go to Maine and rally his people against this abomination, but he would not, because I do not support his false teachings on abortion, so he is lost to me forever. But his people beg me to continue to reach out to him, to give him a chance for eternal life. Their pleas are so desperate I have to answer them, so I will say this. I am trying to reach Maria Shriver Schwarzenegger in California, rise her to my cause. I want to march through San Francisco on Christmas Day and condemn the homosexuals. If Pope Benedict will contact Maria and ask her to fulfill my wishes, accept power and glory equal to my own, and support Demetrius' bid for the presidency, assist him in moving to California, then conduct mass in San Francisco Christmas Eve and march with me Christmas Day I will have Maria take charge of his soul, have him care for The Catholics on her new world in a hundred years. Not only will I give him eternal life, I will glorify him. I will give him someone to serve that will make him great. The Catholics will have .05% of this new world in the stars. Now, I have made an offer. I wish that those that support Benedict now leave me alone. I leave it up to him. If he wants eternal life I give him an opportunity. If he continues to defy me his fate is his own. I am done with him. He is forever separate from me. However, I offer him another to give him eternity. I have done my duty.

[Re. transgender people]

Other conditions:

Transracial. You’re white. But you FEEL black. Your grades and SATs aren’t good. You fill out black on your college application. You get in. You get called on it.
“What, but I FEEL black on the inside. Therefore, I’m black.”

Transspecies. You’re a dude who is arrested for public urination. Solution: You’re a dog. You don’t arrest dogs for peeing outside.

There is no end to this.

I read a story somewhere about organic cotton. Organic cotton is expensive. Cotton growers don’t want to grow organic cotton because it’s too expensive to grow and process. But they like that organic cotton fetches more in the marketplace. They want to use GMO cotton. Roundup ready cotton or whatever they come up with. Their solution: change the meaning of organic.

Stop changing the meaning of words to make the world worse for most people. Men are men and women are women. It’s scientific fact in the chromosomes. But the government wants to decree otherwise. Let’s change the meaning of marriage so that crazy people can get privileges. Let’s make it impossible for consumers to buy organic cotton by defining it out of existence and enriching Monsanto in the process.

No more. Our enemies are sick and evil people.

"Atheists tend to be selfish bastards, as we see clearly in many of the posts here. Hence the tendency of encountering athiests as single non-parents.

You're missing the point regarding the lack of "controls". If you eliminated the married folks from consideration (or separated them), there would be a stronger bias for suicide among atheists who have no family.

This 2004 study isn't dated at all, and remains quite interesting since there have been no other studies.

How laughable it is to read the bravado of the atheists here. Their overconfidence will not serve them well in the end.

It's quite simple: The typical atheist could care less about God or their fellow man. The rejection of God leaves him with nothing in the moment of severe mental crisis. Having nothing, he wants to become nothing. Persistent doubt now culminates in despairing agony. But there is no God to pull him out. Ignorance was bliss, but now it becomes excruciating pain. Once strong in his freedom, he now finds himself pitifully weak.

In denying God, he denies spirituality. Since he denies his soul and the possibility of spiritual assistance from God, it is quite simply unavailable to him as he contemplates suicide.

There is nothing to lean on, since the atheist denies the Power that established him and sustains him. He's on his own. But the darkness is black. Black. It is cold and terribly lonely.

This is the sickness unto death. But death is not the end. There shall be a reckoning."
