Some theistic (and secular) evolutionists have argued that the 'days' mentioned in the creation account in Genesis are 'metaphorical' or 'symbolic' and not meant to be taken literally.

Yet, Moses writes in Exodus 20:11 -

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

So, are we supposed to work for the alleged billions of years some
evolutionists claim it took GOD to create the universe and life, and then rest AFTER those billions of years????

Obviously, the days in Genesis are meant LITERALLY.

Also, if Adam and Eve were merely 'symbolic' of humankind and not literal human beings, why does the Bible give their lineage down to Jesus???

Obviously, Adam and Eve were literal people.

Very odd for someone who believes God is non-existant, to hate Him so much. I for one know of no one who hates Santa Claus like this....

Pullman frankly sounds vile and evil—anti-Christ if you will. No one would have such motivation against a phantom; clearly Pullman knows God exists, and so therefore hates Him all the more....

This new militant atheist crowd ironically proves God’s existence more than the “I don’t know & I don’t care” agnostics.

Quote# 63159

Nowadays, we axiomatically accept democracy as the best form of government we can have. But is this true? What about a Christian monarchy?
Most people immediately react by pointing to King George III and the dangers of concentrating power in one man. True in part, but George III was one among many kings. Think of the kings described by Bede in his Ecclesiastical History and how many of them were pious Christians who cared for their people. Think also of Constantine and other pious Byzantine rulers, of Charlemagne and the Holy Roman Empire, and of the Tsars of Russia, some of whom are saints in the Russian Orthodox Church. Also, think about Tolkien's description of Aragorn as a healer of the people, not as the tyrant which some people nowadays associate with monarchy.
Of course, Christianity also says there is something called ancestral sin, which means there is a danger of the King being a tyrant. Still, within a Christian perspective, democracy would be even worse because then you have ancestral sin multiplied by the number of voters.
The other problem I have with the idea of power residing in the people is that it smacks of the Enlightenment's view of man. Sure, the Greeks had a form of direct democracy, and the Founding Fathers were influenced by them in part, but the Enlightenment also had a big impact on the foundation of this nation. What troubles me about the Enlightenment view of man is its immanentization, as Voegelin would say. In other words, there is no trascendence to the view of government. The Christian vision of the divine right of kingship reveals a hierarchical structure of the cosmos layered onto the civitas, where power comes from above, and the aim of government becomes other-worldly (salvation) rather than this-worldly (happiness). What I am trying to say is that the model of divine right of kingship conveys the idea that Divinity permeates all levels of life, whereas the Enlightenment idea of man tries to separate the Divinity into a little corner, if not entirely destroying it.
I am sorry if I just seem to ramble, but ideas just keep popping in my head about this topic. But I am interested to hear what people have to say about this. I do not think a Christian monarchy is practically feasible nowadays, but it cannot hurt to discuss theoretically the best form of government as the sublime Plato did in his Republic.

Oh I believe you on the lesbian abuse on boys. I can just see it now....some dykes abuse a boy and he grows up to be a serial killer who preys on lesbian women. You just know this is coming, don't you? What is more, when he uses that has his defense, ie “I was abused by my two dyke mommies”, I hope I am on the jury, he will be acquitted, or at least there will be a hung jury.

[From an article about visitors to Creationism in Kentucky}

The retired businessman dismisses Darwin's theory as "not even a low grade hypothesis" and said it had "no substantial science" in it. "The Bible says God created the Earth in six days and we flat believe that. There are over 100 ways science is able to look at the Earth and 90 say it is thousands of years old - only 10 say it's real old." He adds: "The way liberals and evolutionists win an argument is to outlaw freedom of speech... they won't let us in. Why is Darwin buried with kings at Westminster Abbey? He's not a king. He's the king of the atheists' movement, of people who don't want to deal with the guilt that's put on them by sin... it's a weight and a bondage, they become their own God."

[If the Rapture happens today...]

Now as for what I would miss. Due to the financial issues I had to forgo a trip to Nashville for the country music Fan Fair, which I attend every year. I am devastated. We have a plan to save up for next year, if it works out. If the Rapture happens then I will not get to go. However, I am confident that there will be country music in Heaven and that annual Fan Fairs will continue into eternity.

My favorite current TV show is iCarly. The show is currently at its peak and it has an upcoming episode that promises to be its best episode ever. If the Rapture happens first, I am sure there will be TV sets to watch it on, as they are already filmed.

There seems to be alot of confusion on this board regarding Christianity. I see people posting about "Christians" who believe in an old earth. "Christians" who believe in Evolution. "Christians" who believe the Bible has mistakes in it, etc.

This is what's called Counterfeit Christianity. There is no way you can call yourself a Christian and accept Darwin's theory of Evolution when the Bible is perfectly clear that there was no Evolution. No excuses whatsoever. Counterfeit Christians say Genesis shouldn't be taken literally, but they give no reason as to why we shouldn't take it literally!

So I want to make clear what the differences are between True Christians and Counterfeit Christians:

True Christians believe in the Bible. ALL of it.

True Christians are not sympathetic towards other belief systems. A true Christian cannot say that another religion "may lead to God." I do not like Muslims, but I do like the Jews. Although I do not respect Judaism (because it is false and does not lead to salvation), I do respect the Jews because of what the Bible teaches, and because of the importance of Israel in God's plan. The Jews have also been strongly oppressed, therefore true Christians are also proud supporters of Israel (like myself).

True Christians believe in a young earth, and creationism.

True Christians believe in the Trinity doctrine, while many counterfeit Christians reject it.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!

Well, the Christian view is that humanity was put in charge of creation by God, with powers delegated from him. Humanity however ignored the guidelines for managing this. If you wire a plug the wrong way because you deliberately ignore the instructions on how to do so, you should not be surprised if you get an electric shock. As a result of humanity's disobedience, the whole of creation is now out of joint and doesn't 'run' as it should. That's why tsunamis and other shit happens. No use in pointing the finger at God when there are three other fingers pointing back at you.

"Exactly, what MAKES fascism right-wing?"
Democrat propaganda.

Back when they were honest, they openly declared their love for Hitler. They called themselves "Progressives" then.
When Hitler's name became a dirty word, theirs did, too.
To rehabilitate their image, they took the name "liberal" since at the time that's what we called the Founders.
They never made even trivial changes to their political agenda and STILL hold exactly the same platform they had in their "we're proud to love Hitler" days.
Calling Hitler "right wing" was to better distance their image from him. It was only possible because he fought Stalin. Since Stalin was acknowledged as leftist, they "reasoned" Hitler must be right, ignoring the fact they fought over TURF, not the ideology they SHARED

Short version: Nazi = Democrat. There is literally NO difference.

[On Bill O'Reilly's rhetoric possibly leading to Tiller's death.]

I watched Billy the kid O'Reilly last night explaining himself and each time his hands came into view I didn't see any blood. I wonder the amount of blood spilled per abortion. Imagine after taking the hippocratic oath and vowing to do know harm and using your medical knowledge to become a millionaire by ending and disposing of human life. Then going to church lifting bloody hands in praise of the God who gave you life. Yes, God gives life and God takes life, but only He has that right as The Creator of life. The death penalty is a different category insofar as it is instituted through the passage of law by a legislative body as a punishment for certain CRIMES. What crimes did these unborn babies commit? The expectation of being born, living, with the possible HOPE of becoming president? The killer of Tiller was wrong. He is a murderer, but I don't blame O'Reilly at all. This group had been threatening to kill Tiller for some time. One of the group took it upon himself to carry it out. However, I find it difficult to dredge up sympathy for Dr. Tiller.

For me homosexuality is not a temptation because I never went for that. I could have when I was in highschool and a schoolmate started to do things that one would now call homosexual, starting to masturbate in front of me when I came to him to do homework together! 'I hate him for that,' but as a Christian I am rewquired to forgive him and so I do. That is why I know so very well that homosexuality is a CHOICE! I think every boy has things like this happen in his life, where he must make a choice; the RIGHT CHOICE! Which homosexuals want to deny him, and our Minister of Education, Minister Plasterk, a fool and an idiot and a dangerous man for the land, corrupting the land when he commands his inpectors to go out in the Netherlands to all schools to make sure that all kids are taught that homosexuality is normal.

[Dr. LeRoy Carhart offers to perform late-term abortions in Kansas after the murder of George Tiller.]

And so another murderer steps in to commit murder because a murderer was murdered. I wonder how many babies he will need to murder before he feels that he has had revenge for the murderer that was murdered. These people that kill babies for money are sick, and anyone that pays to have babies killed is sick. This crap steams me. I wait for God to have His righteous vengence for these tiny, innocent souls who have never done anything to harm anyone. I wish these people would repent and turn to Christ and save their souls.

just to clear the record, I am not in any way racist. Just in case anyone forgets, it's me, the creationist who believes skin color is skin deep and not at all the result of "evolution," as probably everyone in here believes. Skin is adaptive just many other human traits.....all it takes is a few minutes in the sun to prove that. Stay out in the sun all day, every day, and your offspring might very well emerge a wee bit darker than you. Over the course of a few generations, this may add up to big differences. But the point is, there is no random mutation and there's definitely no selection.

And to clear the homo thing up, I truly truly love these people. It's just that their bedroom/restroom/carseat activities repulse me and drag society down. So sue me.

I was not only mad, but I actually broke out laughing at one point. Why does it surprise anyone that a person like our President would be so fond of the story for his little girls? He is no Christian, but Michele's Mother is said to be one. I can however say this much. You have to cement into their heads that they have to find GODLY men!! Girls have it so tough because of the way society is.

A boy will never get asked out by a girl. Meaning if a boy doesn't search for a godly girl, he probably will stay single and fall into sexual sins by pushing himself toward them.

For a girl it's totally different. A girl will probably get asked out like 10 times a day. The overwhelming peer pressure will cause them to go out with these boys. Next time you know, these girls are pregnant at very young ages.

Girls have to realize that they CANNOT get involved with ANY man who does not follow the Lord.

Did not Yeshua state: "In the last days Christians will be persecuted for My Name's Sake"
And it is happening World Wide. And now, in America. Those who are not Christians do not see the dangerous urgency of this, nor do they care. Because they figure if it doesn't pertainn to them ... Ah, so be it. But what they don't realize is, Our Freedom of Religion ( Our 1st Amendment Right ) is being oppressed, infringed and encrouched upon, next it will be something that "they" value, that pertains to them.
And that is how Socialism creeps.

No wonder there's so much anger in peoples' hearts when there are human beings suffering for lack of essentials. Stinks don't it? If the gnostics want some evidence of creation all they have to is read the first chapter of the Bible. There's far more facts to hold onto in the truth, than there is in theory. How much will this information cost? Nothing. Now that's something to be CON-CERN-ED about...
