My neighbor and I were talking about this today. She told me about a conversation she had with another Christian about stocking up on stuff. About how Christians are about to face persecution and it's starting somewhat now with "gay rights vs the church" issues. She's also convinced the Rapture is going to happen very soon. I didn't realize till today just how "on the same page" we were. It was a nice long conversation.

Recently, it was reported that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama proclaimed that America was not a Christian nation. He stated that Christianity was just one of many religions that were prevalent in America today.

What differs a theory that can't be proven from a religion? Using a mathematical formula to prove anythingis the same as using any of the holy books to prove anything.

The only difference is that while religion is studied from a critical point of view physics is considered to be thruth from the begining.

(LHC "end of the world" prediction)

Scientists are researching how to warp and alter time to help
change the outcome of a war. Near the end of a war, after the
second failure, the research complex is destroyed in a large
catastrophe. Because they are dealing with powers they don't
know how to control it rips them apart. People not there assume they were hit by a missile of some sort because of the
destruction.

But what really happened was that the vortexes of energy they
were trying to deal with were not fine tuned enough to work with and they got out of control. It appears to involve England and Northern Europe. It's in our future but the groundwork has been laid already by scientists working on secret projects in this direction. Something may come of it in our lifetimes but the government will keep it under wraps.
The catastrophe will be very localized and will have some
strange side-effects in the dimension of time in the general area there. The government was counting on it to give it an edge in the war and loses it and will end up affecting the outcome of the war.

Certainly fits the current climate... A very deceptive weapon. Remember that the LHC is not the ultimate WMD... Satan himself is author of destruction.

My position on this is that since masturbation cannot be classified as a sin (with the obvious exceptions of lusting, using porn during the act, etc.) then it is something which can be glorifying to God. And we are commanded to glorify God in everything we do. The Bible also states that we are to rejoice in all things and give thanks in all things. Why should masturbation be any different? An attitude of praise to God for his wonderful gifts, for the pleasure He is allowing you to feel, and for the promise of an eventual fulfillment of your sexuality in marriage are all "safe" things to think about.

The Law of Aerodynamics, which allow airplanes to fly, and the Laws of Logic, which allow computers to operate, ARE LAWS. They have been proven to be true, through the scientific method.
The Theory of Evolution or the Theory of the Age of the Universe are Theories, not Laws. This means that they are simply ideas, that have not been proven to be true, through the scientific method.
The question should not be as to why many Christians do not believe these ideas, but as to why many worldly people believe these ideas with no proof to back them up!

What are the facts?

1% of the 1.4 million abortions committed in the US every year are in reaction to a pregnancy resulting from rape or incest.

3% of the 1.4 million abortions committed in the US every year are in response to somehealth issue the mother is facing. I believe most of these are not as serious as they are made out to be.

96% of the 1.4 million abortions committed in the US every year are the result of the mother choosing not to have the child for some selfish reason.

To compound that, the Democratic Presidential nominee wants to go a step farther. He actually supported a bill which would allow the termination of the life of a viable child after it was born, after it was fully out of the mother's womb.

A few more flaws would be that how does evolution explain complex organs and body parts such as a eye?

A eye does not simply appear, but is to complex to grow. I'm not saying it was created by a greater power, but it was clearly not evolved by evolution.

Quote# 47679

People can become an atheist for many reasons. It could be a result of anger, frustration, resentment etc. due to some unpleasant experience, relating to a church or religion (although its not likely you'll get an atheist to admit it). Another could be the individual's inability to rationalize the concept of God. We all have a tough time with that, even the clergy have difficulty with the logic. I don't think we can reasonably fault, any person for that, because I don't believe anyone can fathom infinaty or omnipotence and omniscience, we just can't corral those concepts in our minds, so we can see them clearly. The belief in God, in my opinion, is reliant upon reasonable probabilities and faith, not the rationalization of impossibly imagined concepts. Many atheists are just trying to be rational, with out applying the unknowns to the equation.

Be it resolved that the following Amendment to the Constitution be adopted:

Article I

The social/political/ideological system known around the world as Islam is not recognized in the United States as a religion.

The practice of Islam is therefore not protected under the 1st Amendment as to freedom of religion and speech.

Article II

As representatives of Islam around the world have declared war, and committed acts of war, against the United States and its democratic allies around the world, Islam is hereby declared an enemy of the United States and its practice within the United States is now prohibited.

Article III

Immediately upon passage of this Amendment all Mosques, schools and Muslim places of worship and religious training are to be closed, converted to other uses, or destroyed. Proceeds from sales of such properties may be distributed to congregations of said places but full disclosure of all proceeds shall be made to an appropriate agency as determined by Congress. No compensation is to be offered by Federal or State agencies for losses on such properties however Federal funding is to be available for the demolishing of said structures if other disposition cannot be made.

The preaching of Islam in Mosques, Schools, and other venues is prohibited. The subject of Islam may be taught in a post high school academic environment provided that instruction include discussion of Islam’s history of violence, conquest, and its ongoing war on democratic and other non-Islamic values.

The preaching or advocating of Islamic ideals of world domination, destruction of America and democratic institutions, jihad against Judaism, Christianity and other religions, and advocating the implementation of Sharia law shall in all cases be punishable by fines, imprisonment, deportation, and death as prescribed by Congress. Violent expressions of these and other Muslim goals, or the material support of those both in the United States and around the world who seek to advance these Islamic goals shall be punishable by death.

Muslims will be denied the opportunity to immigrate to the United States.

Article IV

Nothing in this amendment shall be construed as authorizing the discrimination against, of violence upon, nor repudiation of the individual rights of those Americans professing to be Muslim. The individual right of conscience is sacrosanct and the practice of Islam within the privacy of home and self is strictly protected to the extent that such individuals do not violate the prohibitions described in Article III.

If you are so sure that evolution is the only THEORY that has any scientific merit, then why are you so concerned about teaching an alternative and letting people decide for themselves? Moreover, how extensive have you researched creationism? I would encourage everyone to learn about as many scientific theories as possible and decide which they believe.

Correct...The problem with evolution is it sounds right with all this psycho babble but it lacks any proof and Darwin knew it. It's just a make believe Point.. We have million of creatures on earth that supposedly evolved from a single cell.

Well common sense will tell you that there should be thousands if not millions of creatures in the middle of the process (mutants) right now but there is not one! There should be 2 celled organisms and 4 cells etc... but there is not. You have one celled organisms and you have a 30,000 cell jellyfish with nothing in between. 30,000 missing links right off the foundation.

There are bees and flowers that have to be here at the same time or neither one would exist. Evolution does not explain any of this.

Actually, what's funny is all the dates for the age of dinosaurs, the big bang theory, and everything else that scientists accept as fact today were formulated when they were still putting dinosaur skeletons together all wrong. There was no possible way to determine the age of these creatures, it was all just guesswork.

Rather than coming up with new ages that better explain the origin of the species, scientists just stuck with the original, off the wall numbers.

I don't know how old the earth is, but I feel very certain it isn't ANYWHERE close to how old they say it is.

Besides, what's Palin going to do? "THE EARTH IS 6000 YEARS OLD! GAH!" *hit nuclear launch button*. How does that have any bearing on anything?

[on a thread in the Barr for President group discussing the Constitution Party's platform]

"They want to establish a Republic based and guided on Biblical principles. That is called a theocracy."

No that's not a theocracy. All people are religious, including atheists. And all people have ethical systems that are based on their religion whatever that may be. And all people base their ideas of what government should and shouldn't to on their ethics. It's only a theocracy when they seek to legislate religion itself. Being pro-life is not theocratic. Neither is being for freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Though all of those ideas are ones that Christians hold on the basis of biblical principles.

"That platform states the government should discriminate against gays."

How does it say that government should discriminate against gays? You mean like in the military, which is something government should be in control of and has every right to run according to whatever is best without regard for political correctness, or do you mean that it says the federal government should somehow force the states to punish citizens for being gay? I highly doubt that anything in that platform says the latter.

Answer:

Me, because I realised that atheism (and liberalism) are evil cults that are destroying America and I had been brainwashed into abandoning Christ. Also, I didn't know atheism was exclusively for homosexuals, and I'm not gay so that's another reason I converted away from it.

Even though the chance of the Earth becoming this way is the same chance to win millions of dollars in the lottery almost everyday, it was just luck. Now I just produced a cell out of nowhere! So here I am on earth with my other cell friends but some of them are weaker and they died off. I grew and the next day I sprouted legs and now I'm a human! Isn't that neat?

Let's clear up one big misconception about Darwin. HE WAS NOT A SCIENTIST!!!! If you could resurrect him from the grave and give him a high school science test he could not pass it.

Charles Darwin formulated his theory a few months after graduating from Ministry School. He was trained to be a Christian Preacher and Pastor. See how the brilliant modern scientists have "evolved"? Would they believe a scientific theory formulated by a Christian Pastor in this day and age? I think not.

And the guy who conceived of the Geologic Column that these brilliant scientists use to date things was a LAWYER. He cooked up that little fairy tale about 1830 A.D.

"When your evidence no longer supports your theory it is time to rethink your theory".
