Superstitions are mostly people who are uneducated and fearful. In my experience anyway. It goes deep here, cause of the local Native American lores too. What I do not understand is those who claim to be Christian, being superstitious. There are no salt fairies, no malevolent, or nice force that does things for or against you at the whim of nothing other than a person sees a black cat, walks on a crack in a sidewalk or you accidentally knock the salt over. Jesus came to free us from the bondage of man made junk and to show us that the only one who is out there for us is God.

Can anyone tell this is a pet peeve of mine? My sister-in-law is a wonderful and decent loving person who drives me crazy with superstitions. I have friends that will do anything for you... but if one superstition rears it's ugly head, they are hiding and running form 'curses' and junk, living in bondage to fear and rules. Superstition keeps people in fear and chained to do's and don'ts that accomplish and profit nothing but servitude to ignorance.

The Bible does happen to be the most advanced moral code of it's time, whenever that time is. Pick a time and you can compare moral codes, and the Bible's is superior. For example, the Hammurabi creed of an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth is in the Old Testament, but for manslaughter, instead of killing the offender, he is allowed to live safely.

They have a right to life until they violate one of God’s laws that requires capital punishment. Simple unbelief doesn’t fall under it. But they couldn’t vote, run for or hold office nor slander and defame YHWH in print or over the airwaves. Things of that nature.
