as for my beliefs, yeah, i'll keep on believing them. in regard to your statements, why would i abandon what i believe? there is so much evidence to it's validity....there's more evidence to the truth of the Bible than to the existence of adolf hitler, incidentally.

Hallowe'en has, since it's inception by the druids in northern Europe, been a special holiday for human sacrifices to satan. It continues the same in our day. The sudden epidemic of harmful substances and objects being placed in the various Hallowe'en treats for 'trick or treaters' is no accident. It was carefully planned by satanist. The children injured and killed by thede treats are sacrifices to satan.

[On the Da Vinci Code, a best-selling book that includes Jesus' fathering a child with Mary Magdalene]I wasn't aware that everytime somebody used their imagination to write a novel, that we should all of a sudden take their fiction to be historical truth... with no evidence either explicit or implicit to back any of these wild unsupported hypotheses.

Plus you run into the problem Troylus touched on. Here you have a young Christain child growing up all their life thinking Santa is a real being, their parents said so; and then they finally figure out it is a sham, well the next logical step of course is applying that line of nikolodean thinking to the existence of God or the historical person of Jesus.

It [talking with God] 'feels' just like you are talking to anyone else. Sometimes you don't 'feel' anything at all, you feel very alone. Sometimes you feel very close to God.

This topic comes up over and over and over... Would it be possible to start a new forum; and name it accordingly? Something like 'God Haters R Us' or 'We Are All Going To Hell'? Maybe one of you elite could get IH [the administrator] to hook that up for ya!

The character of Gandalf is presented as a trustworthy, fatherly, heroic, warrior on the on the side of good...but when he fights "evil" wizards, he is using the same means they are - he is using magic that God calls 'abomination': [insert some Bible verses]... God says that all wizards are an abomination to Him...LOTR claims that some wizards are good. I'm going with God on this one.

Can't say I know much about harry potter, but it would seem you could try the things in that story at home, spells and the like. Whereas lotr is clearly fantasy...

I am as much against HP as I am LoTR. Both have magic, both have elves and fairies and all that jazz. We aren't to have anything to do with demonology (Which faeries and elves fall under) nor are we to have anything to do with Sorcery (Gandalf ring a bell? he's a warlock).

... she [the author of Harry Potter] is a high preistess in wicca, which is witchcraft. All of her spells in the books are accurate. Because of her books, many many children, teens and adults have become Wiccan or NeoPagans. You do the math

You say 'good' triumphs in the end? What you call good, God calls abomination...there are no good wizards, according to God... Gandalf & Co. unabashedly practice witchcraft and this is presented as a GOOD thing...how can I take pleasure in that?

Star Wars is somewhere between Judaism and New Age Buddist/Taoist teachings when it comes to the force. As of right now, I haven't seen anything wrong with it as it doesn't promote it as a religion. Flintstones? Gimme a break... The smurfs-- Yes. It has a warlock. Xmen, No... these are people who have genetic mutations. Clear difference from magick.

No But LoTR glorifies the warlocks, the elves and faeries. Those are what the people of the glenns and highlands used to worship before they were brough to Messiah. Believe it or not, people STILL worship Faeries, elves and such. It's a very central part of Pagansim, Wicca and Druidism. The central theme that I find throughout LoTR is that Druidism and Wicca are OK.

Fiction isn't bad, so long as fiction does not center around TRUE pagan beliefs as witchcraft and elves, faeries and warlocks/witches. Those are true things-- elves and faeries-- they're manifestations of demons.

I agree with HeIsEnough. LOTR is pure fantasy taking place on a fantastical world with unreal characters. While Gandalf is cool, he is also not the main character or hero. HP [Harry Potter] is a kid, a real kid from a real world taken away to become a witch/warlock and made a child hero because of his abilities in the craft. He then has adventure after adventure. What kid wouldn't want to be HP???

From someone who has been witnessing with pagans, This is one of those very problematic areas. It DOES glorify magick and the faeries and elves which, as I said before- are manifestations that demons like to take.

As adult Christians, LOTR, HP etc will have little affect on us, but to little kids its TERRIBLE. Satan has desensitized our culture. He has made it so we allow our children to read HP books. Satan loves to get us doubting Gods infallible Word. Satan loves to get us adults thinking these movies are ok, so we let our children watch it... Can you imagine what Jesus would have said to one of the apostles if they had said, 'Hey Jesus, you should go watch this magician at the Jerusalem 8 Cinema, and bring along some children, this guy is a good magician. He wears a white robe'.
